Export of Services: New EDF Reporting Framework from 1 October 2026
Export of Services: New EDF Reporting Framework from 1 October 2026
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is introducing a common electronic export declaration mechanism for reporting exports, including eligible exports of services, with effect from 1 October 2026.
What Service Exporters Need to Know
Exporters of services should ensure that eligible service-export transactions are reported through the prescribed electronic declaration process and that appropriate records are maintained.
Key Compliance Requirements
1. Electronic Export Declaration
Eligible service-export transactions will need to be identified and reported through the applicable electronic export declaration mechanism.
2. Invoice-wise Records
Exporters should maintain complete transaction-wise records, including:
Exporter details
Overseas customer details
Invoice date and number
Currency and invoice value
Payment/realisation details
3. Coordination with AD Bank
The reporting and declaration process should be coordinated with the exporter’s Authorised Dealer (AD) Bank.
4. Export Proceeds Realisation
Export proceeds should be realised and repatriated within the applicable RBI-prescribed period.
5. Export Monitoring & Reporting
The AD Bank will monitor export realisation and related reporting through the applicable RBI export monitoring system.
Practical Compliance Flow
Service Invoice → Export Declaration / EDF → AD Bank → EDPMS Reporting → Foreign Currency Realisation → Closure / eBRC
Important
Implementation requirements, reporting formats and timelines may vary depending on the nature of the service and transaction. Service exporters should therefore confirm the applicable procedure with their AD Bank and ensure proper invoice-wise reconciliation.
